Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has all the rights to perform the tournaments. ACC is an organisation that looks after the management and smooth conduct of tournaments under their governance. It was founded and established in 1983. It is played in both one day and T20 formats played in every alternative two years. The first edition was played in 1984 in UAE. The latest edition was played in 2018 and the next edition will be played in 2022 and hosted by Sri Lanka. 

All the matches between the teams are conducted in a round-robin format. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghanistan are the teams taking part under Asian Cricket Council. The very first tournament of the Asia Cup was played in 1984 in Sharjah, UAE. The ICC also announced that the entire tournament played in Asia Cup has the official One-Day International status. Here is the list of:

1. Sanath Jayasuriya

Sanath Jayasuriya is a Sri Lankan Cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and also a left-arm spin bowler. He is considered one of the best cricketers of all time. He was also the captain of the Sri Lankan team. Jayasurya was considered as the best-attacking batsman and best all-rounder performance.

He first played his Asia Cup tournament in 1990 and played till 2008. He played a total of 25 matches and made 1220 runs, scored with an average of 53.04. His highest individual score is 130 runs.

2. Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara is a Sri Lankan left-handed batsman. He is a top-order batsman and his main role is behind the wickets. He is a wonderful batsman in the entire cricket format. He started playing his Asia Cup tournaments in 2004 and played till 2014.

He played a total of 24 matches and scored 1075 runs. He is not only good with his batting skills but also he is very impressed with his Wicket Keeping skills. His highest individual score is 121 runs not out. He has a strike rate of 84.51.

3. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar is a well known Indian cricketer. Sachin Tendulkar is popularly known as Master Blaster. He has been always known for scoring the maximum number of runs. He played Asia Cup tournament between the span of 1990 to 2012. 

He played a total of 23 matches and 21 innings and made the highest 971 runs. He has been always very impressed with his batting performance. His individual highest score is 114 runs.

4. Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik plays for Pakistan. He is a right-handed batsman. He started playing his Asia Cup tournament in 2000 and played till 2018. He played a total of 21 matches and scored 907 runs, with an average of 64.78. His highest individual score is 143 runs. He is one of the finest players in his team. He played the role of All-Rounder in the team.

5. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is an Indian Batsman and known as a ‘Hitman’. He usually opens up the innings and is known for his long hitting and huge scoring talent. He is most powerful in playing Pull Shot. He understands the situation well and deals with the same. He first played his Asia Cup tournaments in 2008 and latest played in 2018. 

He has been part of 27 matches played and 26 innings. He has scored a total of 883 runs, with an average of 42.04. It’s a prediction by experts that if he plays the first 20 balls, then he spends a longer time in the crease. His highest individual score is 111 runs not out.

6. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is popularly known as ‘Run Machine’. He is an Indian Batsman and the Captain of the Indian Cricket team. He first played his Asia Cup tournament in 2010 and latest played in 2016. He has been part of 16 matches played and 14 innings. 

He didn’t play much but still managed to be on the sixth spot and made 766 runs in a very short span. He is amongst the fittest player and most talented as well. He has the best strike rate of 99.60. His highest individual score is 183 runs.

7. Arjuna Ranatunga

Arjuna Ranatunga is a Sri Lankan player. He is a Left-handed batsman. He plays an important role in his team as a batsman. He started playing his Asia Cup tournaments in 1984 and latest played till 1997. He played a total of 19 matches and scored 741 runs, with an average of 57.00. His highest individual score is 131, runs not out.

8. Mushfiqur Rahim

Mushfiqur Rahim plays for Bangladesh. He is a right-handed batsman. He has a key role of being behind the stumps. He is a wonderful batsman. He first played his Asia Cup tournament in 2008 and latest played till 2018. He played a total of 26 matches and scored 739 runs, with an average of 32.13. His highest individual score is 144 runs. He is the only batsman to score the highest runs on his team.

9. Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an Indian Cricketer. He is a well-known finisher. He is not only a good finisher but also a good wicket-keeper. His ability behind the wickets is quite awesome and very quick. During his captaincy, he has definitely taken team India to some different heights and achieved a good milestone.

10. Mahela Jayawardene

Mahela Jayawardene is a Sri Lankan right-handed batsman. He was also the captain of the Sri Lankan team. He has started playing in the Asia Cup tournament in 2000 and played till 2014. During his captaincy, he took his team to a much better stage. 

He played a total of 28 matches and 26 innings and scored a total of 674 runs, with an average of 29.30. His highest individual score is 78runs. He has a good strike rate of 87.64.
