The Cricket World Cup, the name itself says how much trill and excitement these matches amongst the Various Countries will give. It is played in One Day International (ODI) format. International Cricket Council (ICC) has all the rights to perform the tournaments.

ICC is an International Organisations who looks after the management and smooth conduct of tournaments under there Governance. It is conducted in every fourth coming year. Cricket World cup is the most viewed sports event.

Cricket fans feels more excited after watching the match live from the stadium. These matches also get many sponsorships, which helps the organisers for easy and smooth conduct of tournaments. Many organisations, companies, members and individuals were involved in order to manage smooth operation of the tournament.

The first Cricket World Cup was played on 7 June’1975. Total team participate are India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

For International Cricket Council, Cricket World Cup became the flagship event Cricket World Cup gives the good motivation level to each player and they have the keen interest to show the best for their nation.

Every nation comes with the motive of achieving the Trophy and winning for its Nation and making their Nation proud. Cricket is all about teamwork and coordination amongst each other.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

The God of Cricket ‘Sachin Tendulkar’ scored the most runs in the ICC World Cup History. He is known for his record making ability, not only in the world cup, but a leader in almost all the format of cricket. Sachin Tendulkar has the record of scoring 673 runs in 2003, is the most by any batsmen in the world cup. He also carries the record for most Half Centuries and Centuries amongst all the batsman. Sachin scored total 2278 runs with the strike rate of 56.95.

2. Ricky Ponting

He is the Australian cricketer and also on the list of most successful captain in the tournament. In his appearance, Australia won the world cup three times. Ponting played total five world cups between 1996 – 2006. Total centuries scored by Ponting is five. In 2003 series, Ponting scored two centuries. The best remember able knock played by him was in the final of 2003- 140 runs in 121 balls played at Johannesburg.

2007 series was the best series for Ricky Ponting, where he scored total 539 runs, including one century and four fifties. He maintained the record of scoring 1743 runs at the strike rate of 45.86.

3. Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara is a Sri Lankan cricketer and holds a most successful wicketkeeper with 54 dismissals. 2015 world cup series was one of the best series for him. He scored total 541 runs with the strike rate of 108.20. It also includes four back-to-back centuries, and by doing so, he was the first batsmen to do so in ODIs.

As captain, he took Sri Lanka to finals against India, scoring 465 runs with the average of 93.00, which also included one century and three fifties. Total runs scored by him- 1532 with the average of 56.74.

4. Brian Lara

He is a Caribbean cricketer. Brian Lara had a wonderful World cup career. He was known as the saviour for his team for many years.

Brian Lara was the part of five world cups, started in 1992. Lara played total 34 tournaments and also took the lead in 1999 and 2007. He knocked total two centuries each in 1996 and 2003. He was known for scoring at least 200 runs in all the editions. His top score of 116 runs came against South Africa in 2003 world cup. He scored 1225 runs with the average of 42.24.

5. Ab De Villiers

Ab De Villiers didn’t get a chance to win the title in any of the edition. He played in 2007, 2011 and 2015. But he is known for his massive run scoring in world cups, the highest average in the list 63.52. He played his first world cup in 2007; it was an extreme series for him as he got four ducks and 372 runs in 10 matches.

In 2011, he scored a beautiful two centuries and in 2015 he posted 482 runs, which includes 162 against West Indies. It was also a fastest 150 runs in ODIs. The total runs scored by him 1207, with the average of 63.52.

6. Sanath Jayasuriya

Jayasuriya ended his journey in 2007 world cup and he was a second highest run makes after Mahela Jayawardene. In 1996 edition, Jayasuriya was the most valuable player. He was the part of total five world cups and appeared in 38 matches. Jayasuriya also captained the team in semi-finals in 2003. He scored 120 against New Zealand.

7. Jacques Kallis

He is a South Africa middle order batsmen. He appeared in five world cups. Jacques Kallis made his debut at 20 years of age in 1996. He scored total nine fifties and the only person behind Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most world cup fifties. He scored total 1148 runs with the average of 45.92.

8. Tillakaratne Dilshan

He was a most run getter in 2011 world cup- 500 runs. His favourite shot Dil scoop is founded by him. He scored the highest 161 runs against Bangladesh, which is the highest scored by a Sri Lankan batsmen.

His total runs 1112 with an average of 52.95.

9. Mahela Jayawardene

Jayawardene played his first world cup in year 1999. He scored 103* against India in the 2011 edition. Jayawardene captained Sri Lanka in 2007 world cup against Australia. He scored total 1100 runs with an average of 35.48.

10. Adam Gilchrist

The Australian batsmen as well the keeper. He is very good at front of the stumps and behind the stumps. Adam Gilchrist is known for his wonderful opening contribution to the team and with a good score. He also holds the record of most catches in the world cup history. Gilchrist total scored 110 runs, with an average of 36.16.
