Top 10 Bowlers in Asia Cup

Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has all the rights to perform the tournaments. ACC is an organisation that looks after the management and smooth conduct of tournaments under their governance. It was founded and established in 1983. It is played in both one day and T20 formats played in every alternative two years. The first edition was played in 1984 in UAE.

The latest edition was played in 2018 and the next edition will be played in 2022 and hosted by Sri Lanka. All the matches between the teams are conducted in a round-robin format. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghanistan are the teams taking part under Asian Cricket Council.

The very first tournament of the Asia Cup was played in 1984 in Sharjah, UAE. The ICC also announced that the entire tournament played in Asia Cup has the official One-Day International status. Here is the list of:

1. Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He is a right-arm fast bowler and has a very different and unique bowling style. He played his first Asia Cup tournament in the year 2004 and played till 2018. He played a total of 15 matches and took 33 wickets. He bowled a total of 6 maiden overs.

His variations and pace have always resulted in trouble for the batsmen. Especially in the opening spell and in death over, he remains quite impressive. His pace in the bowling has really troubled lots of batsmen. His best individual bowling figure is 5/34.

2. Muttiah Muralitharan

Muttiah Muralitharan is a Sri Lankan Right Arm Spin Bowler. His spinning capability is very dominating. By the grace of God, his bowing arm is designed in such a way that no one can copy him. He played his first Asia Cup tournament in 1995 and played till 2010.

He played a total of 24 matches and 24 innings and managed to take 30 wickets. He has a very good economic figure. He is one of the most successful bowlers in the history of cricket. His best individual bowling figure is 5/31.

3. Ajantha Mendis

Ajantha Mendis has a good variation of bowling, he bowls right-arm leg-spin and off-spin. He is a very good spinner for the Sri Lankan bowling unit. He has a good wicket-taking ability. He played his first Asia Cup tournament in 2008 and latest played in 2014. He had played 08 matches so far and has managed to take 26 wickets. His best individual bowling figure is 6/13.

4. Saeed Ajmal

Saeed Ajmal is a Right Arm Break Bowler, plays for Pakistan. His spinning capability has been very impressive. Taking the wickets at the crucial situation during the match. He was one of the important players for the Pakistan team. He played his first Asia Cup tournament in 2008 and latest played in 2014. He played a total of 12 matches and managed to take 36 wickets.

5. Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is a Left Arm Orthodox spinner, plays for Bangladesh. He is not only good with his bowl but also carries a good record as a batsman. He is a good all-rounder. He usually gives his best performance in T20 formats. He played his first Asia Cup tournaments in 2010 and latest played in 2018. He played a total of 18 matches and managed to take 24 wickets. His highest individual bowing figure is 4/42.

6. Chaminda Vaas

Chaminda Vaas is a Sri Lankan left-arm Fast bowler. He is one of the finest bowlers in the Sri Lankan lineup. He has a good capability of bowling in a particular line with a swing in it. He played his first Asia Cup tournament in 1995 and played till 2008.

He played a total of 19 matches and 19 innings and knocked 23 wickets. His best bowling figure is 3/30, and he bowled a total of 20 maidan overs with a very less economy rate.

7. Mashrafe Mortaza

Mashrafe Mortaza is a cricketer from Bangladesh. He is a right-arm fast bowler. He is considered one of the best bowlers in the bowling lineup. He has lots of variations in his bowling, which helps him in troubling the batsmen.

He first played his Asia Cup tournaments in the year 2008 and played till 2018. He played a total of 24 matches and 24 innings and took 23 wickets. He bowled a total of 7 maiden overs. His best individual bowling figure is 2/12.

8. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is an Indian left-arm spin bowler. He is not only a good performer of his bat, fielding, but also very impressed by his bowling. He has been part of Asia Cup tournaments since 2010 and is still part of the tournament. 

He has played 18 matches and been part of 18 innings and managed to take 22 wickets. R. Jadeja bowled a total of 128.1 over, of which 4 are maidan overs. His economic rate has also been impressive. His best individual bowling figure is 4/29.

9. Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan is an Indian Cricketer. He is considered one of the best all-rounders in the Indian lineup. He has been very good with his batting skills too, but when it comes to bowling, he has been very fantastic. He is a left-arm fast bowler.

He started playing his Asia Cup tournaments in 2004 and played till 2012. In 12 matches he bowled a total of 109.1 overs and took 22 wickets, which includes 1 maidan over. His highest individual figure is 4/32. Especially in the shorter format game, he performs really well.

10. Sanath Jayasuriya

Sanath Jayasuriya is a Sri Lankan Cricketer. He is a left-arm spin bowler. Being a part-time bowler, he has managed to grab the top 10 spots. He is very fabulous with his bat and with the ball too. Initially, he started his career by bowing, and later he developed his batting skills.

He first played his Asia Cup tournament in 1990 and played till 2008. He played a total of 25 matches and bowled 148.5 overs, which includes 2 maiden overs and took 22 wickets. His best individual bowling figure is 4/49.
