The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was earlier known as ICC World Twenty. International Cricket Council (ICC) has all the rights to perform the tournaments. ICC is an International Organisation who looks after the management and smooth conduct of tournaments under their Governance.

It is played in 20-20 format. Initially, the T20 series was started and adopted by English Cricket Board. Their matches started attracting more and more crowd with a large number of audience. Gradually other Cricket Board also stated adopting this format due to its high popularity and unexpected crowd. Total sixteen team participate in the T20 tournament. 

The first T20 World Cup was played in year 2007. In 2016, the current edition was played & West Indies won that Edition. The Tournament was conducted on every two years since the beginning but after 2016 tournament the ICC members decided to conduct it in 2020, which was after four years. Due to Covid-19 issue tournament got cancelled and could not happen.

For the year 2021 and 2022, the host country has been also changed and the current tournaments have also been postponed. India to host 2021 series and 2022 in Australia. After, the 2016 series ICC once decided to organise the tournament in 2018 and South Africa was the possible host. 

Every countryman who participates for themselves and for their Nation has the motive of achieving the good record and making their Nation proud. Cricket is all about teamwork and co-ordination amongst each other. Here is the complete list of:

1. Shahid Afridi, Pakistan

Match – 34

Wickets – 39

Shahid Afridi is a Right Arm Leg Spin bowler from Pakistan. He is also known as Boom Boom. He plays a wonderful role for his team as a good all-rounder. He is a former captain for the Pakistan team.

He started his T20 world cup career in 2007 and latest played in 2016. He has been part of 34 matches and played 34 innings. He tops the list by taking 39 wickets so far.

His best bowling figure is 4/11. He is not only good with ball but also his batting impressed a lot.

2. Lasith Malinga, Sri Lanka

Match – 31

Wickets – 38

Lasith Malinga is a fast orthodox bowler from Sri Lanka. His bowing is so unique that makes difficulty for the batting unit. His bowling is very famous in all the T20 format matches.

He first played his T20 world cup in 2007 and latest in 2016. He played total 31 matches and took 38 wickets.

He is just one wicket behind, from being on the top of the list.

3. Saeed Ajmal, Pakistan

Match – 23

Wickets – 36

Saeed Ajmal is a Right Arm Off Break Bowler, plays for Pakistan. His spinning capability has been very impressive. Taking the wickets at the crucial situation during the match.

He was one of the important players for the Pakistan team. He played his first T20 match in 2009 and latest played in 2014.

He has managed to take 36 wickets and gained a third spot in the list.

4. Ajantha Mendis, Sri Lanka

Match – 21

Wickets – 35

Ajantha Mendis has a good variation of bowling- right arm and leg spin and off spin. He plays for Sri Lankan team. He is a very good spinner for the Sri Lankan bowling unit.

He has a good wicket taking ability. Played his first T20 world cup in 2009 and latest played in 2014.

He had played 21 matches so far and has managed to take 35 wickets. Just one wicket behind, from gaining a third spot in the list.

5. Umar Gul, Pakistan

Match – 24

Wickets – 35

Umar Gul is a Right Arm Fast Bowler, plays for Pakistan. He has been very impressive bowler in his time. He has started his T20 world cup career in 2007 and ended up in 2014. He has best bowing figure, 5/6, which is quite impressive.

His bowling spell sometimes results as a very uneconomical. He has played total 24 matches and managed to take 35 wickets.

Just same as of Ajantha Mendis, but Mendis gained fourth spot because of the best average and economy than Umar Gul.

6. Dale Steyn, South Africa

Dale Steyn is a Super-fast Right Arm Bowler from South Africa. His super fast run up and bowling action is also quite impressive. But when he is out of his form, then he remains very costlier bowler, in terms of his average and economy.

He played his first T20 world cup match in 2009, and latest played in 2016. He played total 23 matches and took 30 wickets. His best bowling figure is 4/17.

7. Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh

Match – 25

Wickets – 30

Shakib Al Hasan is a Left Arm Orthodox spinner, plays for Bangladesh. He is not only good with his bowl, but also carries a good record as a batsman.

He is a good all rounder. He usually gives his best performance in T20 formats. He played his first T20 world cup in 2007 and latest played in 2016. He played total 25 matches and managed to take 30 wickets.

8. Stuart Broad, England

Match – 26

Wickets – 30

Stuart Broad is an English cricketer plays for England and is a Eight Arm Fast bowler. Sometimes he is very economic and sometime very uneconomical.

He started his T20 world cup career in 2007 and played till 2014. He has been part of 26 matches and played 25 innings.

His best bowling came out of 3/17. He has managed to take 30 wickets in his T20 world cup span.

9. Dj Bravo, West Indies

Match – 29

Wickets – 25

Bravo is a very casual and entertaining player. He is a Right Arm Medium Fast Bowler. He is a Caribbean player. He has not made records with only ball but also, he is a good batsman as well as good fielder.

He is amongst a perfect all rounder. He played total 29 matches and managed to take 25 wickets.

10. Samuel Badree, West Indies

Match – 15

Wickets – 24

Samuel Badree is again a Caribbean player, part of West Indies. He is a Right Arm Leg Spin bowler. He has been very impressive with his spinning capability.

He played total 15 matches and managed to take 24 wickets so far and remains in the top 10 list.
