The Cricket World Cup, the name itself says how much trill and excitement these matches amongst the Various Countries will give. It is played in One Day International (ODI) format. International Cricket Council (ICC) has all the rights to perform the tournaments.

ICC is an International Organisations who looks after the management and smooth conduct of tournaments under there Governance. It is conducted in every fourth coming year. Cricket World cup is the most viewed sports event.

Cricket fans feels more excited after watching the match live from the stadium. These matches also get many sponsorships, which helps the organisers for easy and smooth conduct of tournaments. Many organisations, companies, members and individuals were involved in order to manage smooth operation of the tournament.

The first Cricket World Cup was played on 7 June’1975. Total team participate are India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

For International Cricket Council, Cricket World Cup became the flagship event Cricket World Cup gives the good motivation level to each player and they have the keen interest to show the best for their nation.

Every nation comes with the motive of achieving the Trophy and winning for its Nation and making their Nation proud. Cricket is all about teamwork and coordination amongst each other.

1. England Vs New Zealand, 2019

Date – 14 Jul 2019

Winner – England

Man of The Match – Ben Stokes (England)

Place – London, England

The match was played between England and New Zealand at Lords on 14 July 2019. It is one of the most recently played match, which was full of entertainment. It was the most competitive match between both the teams. There was a slight delay in the match due to rain.

New Zealand came to bat first and scored total 241/8. England came out to bat once score was 86/4, and it was becoming difficult for England to chase on. And finally, the scored got levelled and went for supper over. In supper over England batted first and scored 15 runs in a over and the New Zealand also scored the same, the super over also got tied up.

Finally, England won the tournament based upon the maximum boundaries scored. This situation became very controversial for the management.

2. Australia Vs England, 1987

Date –  8 Nov 1987

Winner – Australia 

Man of The Match – David Boon (Australia)

Place – Kolkata, India

The 1987 edition final between Australia and England was hosted by Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Over 90,000 people came to cheer up their respective teams. Australia came out to bat first and their top order batsmen went out one by one and not contributing much and Australia was 168/4 in 39 over.

Till 50th over the Australia posted 253/5 runs. England came out for the chase. England opener went out on his very first ball. Then slowly and steadily wicket kept falling.

In last over, England required 17 runs in the final cover, but unfortunately England could achieve it and Australians lifted the trophy.

3. Pakistan Vs England, 1992

Date – 25 Mar 1992

Winner – Pakistan 

Man of The Match – Wasim Akram (Pakistan)

Place – Melbourne, Australia 

It was the very first edition of world cup and played between Pakistan and England. Pakistan came out to bat first, with having very less confidence as they have lost initial matches.

The partnership between middle order batsmen helped Pakistan to score 249/6. Also, England didn’t get the good start.

The king of swing- Wasim Akram and made difficulty for England batsman. The game was in favour of Pakistan and lifted the trophy.

4. India Vs West Indies, 1983

Date – 25 Jun 1993

Winner – India 

Man of The Match – Mohinder Amarnath (India)

Place – London, England

It was the third world cup edition, played between India and England at Lords in 1983. West Indies were playing their third consecutive world cup final and won the last two, whereas for India it was the very first time. West Indies won the toss and opted to ball.

India came out to bat and Sunil Gavaskar known for playing long spells, but he got out very early. The other two top order batsmen remained at the crease for a longer time and at last made 183 runs.

West Indies came out to bat and India’s bowling unit gave a tremendous performance and was all out at 119 and it was the remarkable victory for India for the very first time.

5. West Indies Vs Australia, 1975

Date – 21 Jun 1975

Winner – West Indies

Man of The Match – Clive Lloyd (West Indies)

Place – London, England

The match between West Indies and Australia played at Lords in 1975. West Indies opted to bat first and their top order batsman started the innings well. Clive made a wonderful century 102 runs in just 85 balls and took West Indies to build a good score of 291 runs.

Australians top order batsman were also in good form. The opening batsmen got run out and then slowly Windies bowler were performing well and kept taking wickets.

The match came too close, but at last Australians got short of 17 runs and West Indies won the match.

6. India Vs Sri Lanka, 2011

Date – 2 April 2011

Winner – India 

Man of The Match – Mahendra Singh Dhoni (India)

Place – Mumbai, India

The world final match between India and Sri Lanka played at Wankhede in 2011. The stadium was fulling sold out of audience, which made a huge impact of very beginning of the toss. The match referee couldn’t hear the call during the toss and made a re-toss.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. Zaheer Khan’s spell turned out to be very special, just giving six runs and 3 maiden overs in five over spell.

India’s initial start was weak by the middle order handled it well. Finally, India chased it well and lifted the trophy.

7. Sri Lanka Vs Australia, 1996

Date – 17 March 1996

Winner – Sri Lanka 

Man of The Match – Aravinda de Silva (Sri Lanka)

Place – Lahore, Pakistan

The match against Sri Lanka and Australia played at Lahore in 1996. Australia came out to bat first and gave the good target.

On the other side, there was Sri Lankan team, which lost their top order very soon but still managed to win the match.

8. West Indies Vs England, 1979

Date – 23 June 1979

Winner – West Indies

Man of The Match – Viv Richards (West Indies)

Place – London, England

West Indies played the good inning and managed to score a 286/9. England started the inning very slowly, and the chase was getting very boring. At last West Indies won the match.

9. Australia Vs India, 2003

Date – 23 March 2003

Winner – Australia

Man of The Match – Ricky Ponting (Australia)

Place – Johannesburg, South Africa

The match against these two teams was amongst the thriller. Australian top line batsmen got a good start and made a good partnership.

Australia posted 359 runs on board, which became very difficult for India. Australia cleaned up Indian batsmen and made it to the victory.

Place – Melbourne, Australia

New Zealand came out to bat first and top order batsmen couldn’t do well. But still managed to post the sufficient runs on board.

Then Australian came out bat and top order batsmen scored well and Australia won the match easily.
