Mumbai Indians is the most successful IPL franchise team with five trophies most by any team in the IPL history. Mumbai Indians is an IPL franchise cricket team based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Mumbai Indians came into formation in 2008 when BCCI announced a twenty20 tournament named Indian Premier League (IPL) in September 2007 and the competition to be started in 2008. In January 2008, BCCI conducted an auction of IPL franchises in which MI was sold to Reliance Industries Ltd for a whopping $111.9 million, making it the most expensive team in the entire league.
The owners of this franchise are Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, and Reliance Industries LTD. The Hitman Rohit Sharma is the captain of Mumbai Indians since the 2013 edition of IPL, where they won their maiden IPL title and champions league twenty20, and from then they did not look back. They won five IPL titles most by any team in the history of IPL (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020). Rohit is the most successful captain in IPL till-date. MI featuring star players like Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Quinton de Kock, and many others. Mahela Jayawardene the former Srilankan skipper and the legendary batsman is the head coach of MI since April 2017-till date and he is the successful head coach of MI among all the previous coaches with 63.49% win.

Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai is the home ground for the mighty Mumbai Indians in their inaugural and the next following year i.e., 2008 and 2009 and in their 3rd season Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai hosts the IPL matches as the of Mumbai Indians since the Wankhede underwent renovation to host group matches and the finals of the 2011 ICC cricket world cup where India won the world cup after 28 years with the huge six from the skipper Mr. Captain cool MSD’s bat. IPL Journey
The Mumbai Indians played against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL finals in 2013. Mumbai Indians batted first and finished with a total of 148/9. Kieron Pollard, the big man, posted an unbeaten half-century of 60 from 32 deliveries. The Chennai Super Kings then came into bat and were limited by the Mumbai bowlers, scoring just 125 for the loss of 9 wickets. M.S. Dhoni led the team to an undefeated half-century. And the Mumbai Indians have won their first IPL championship. And also, again in the 2015 IPL Final Mumbai played against the Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
This was the third time these two teams met in the finals. Mumbai Indians have scored 202/5 and defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs. The skipper hit man Rohit Sharma was awarded man of the match for his innings of 50. The final match was sold out, with an estimated 67,000 people in attendance. In 2017, Mumbai had a good first half of the season, winning six of six games after losing to Pune in the opener. They won four games in the second half of the league season and ended first with 20 points.
Mumbai Indians played their final against the Rising Pune Supergiant, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians was playing in their fourth IPL final and defeated Pune by 1 run to win their third IPL title. It was a nail-biting match. Mumbai Indians’s Krunal Pandya was awarded the man of the match award for his innings of 47 runs. In 2019 Mumbai Indians faced the Chennai Super Kings in the final, which was held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.
MI batted first and finished with a modest score of 149-8 in 20 overs, thanks to a quick comeback by Kieron Pollard (41* off 25 balls). The Chennai Super Kings came to and with ease they played. Shane Watson’s 80 off 59 balls almost took the game away from MI, but a late run-out got MI back into the game. And Lasith Malinga’s final over was the highlight of the game, as he defended nine runs while picking up two vital wickets to lead Mumbai Indians to their fourth IPL win.
In 2020 the Mumbai Indians played the final against the Delhi Capitals. The Delhi Capitals batted first and scored 156/7 in 20 overs. The skipper Shreyas Iyer has scored 65* off 50 balls and the dashing batsman Rishabh Pant has scored half century in 38 balls. Mumbai Indians got a good start as the skipper Hit man Rohit Sharma has scored an unbeaten 68 off 51 balls and leads the team towards winning position. And at last Krunal Pandya finishes with a single and Mumbai Indians won their fifth IPL title.
Mumbai Indians became the first team in IPL history to play 200 games also becomes the first team to win the IPL title 5 times. In 2019 Mumbai Indians sets the record of winning 100 IPL matches. Mumbai Indians has set so many records in the history of Indian Premier League.
